Dai-SiFu Don Grose, Headman of the Tucson Ving Tsun Academy and President of the International Ving Tsun Kung Fu Federation, began his Ving Tsun career in 1982 in the Wing Tsun system. Being a student for more than 10 years, he began his own organization using the Ving Tsun name. This was done out of respect for his Sifu and the memory of Grandmaster Yip Man.

In 1990, he began the first Ving Tsun Kung Fu Club at the University of Arizona, at which time he was also the Arizona AAU Chinese Martial Arts Chairman.

In 1991, Dai-SiFu Don began an association with several groups in India who have embraced the art of Ving Tsun. After several years of hard work and travel to India, he has established several schools in various cities on the sub-continent which are training very hard to become leaders of Ving Tsun.

In 1996, Dai-SiFu Don received the United States National Champion award in Chi-sau competition/ tournaments, and he has also produced many fine Chi-sau competitors over the years who have competed and placed in first and second standings in 1999 and 2001.

In 1999, he became a member of the Ving Tsun Athletic Association of Hong Kong, as well as a member of the United States Koushu Federation. He is presently a member of the USA Wushu Kung Fu Federation.

In 2005, Dai-SiFu Don was honored by being inducted into both the World Martial Arts Black Belt Hall of Fame and the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame, being recognized for his work in promoting Ving Tsun to the world.
