How Is Testing Performed?
Testing for Rank Levels in the AWCA Distance Learning Program

For members of the AWCA Distance Learning Program, testing for rank levels is an easy process.

  1. Requirements for testing are contained in each study guide (PDF).
  2. As a member works through the curriculum via their workbook, study guide, and monthly DVD's, they will eventually reach a point where they know the information and are ready to test.
  3. Using a simple video camera, they just open the study guide and go point-by-point through each section, filming their skill level.
  4. After editing to their liking, they can then send the videos in small chunks (2 MB or less) via email, or create a VCD or DVD for postal mail.
  5. Sifu Phil Bradley personally reviews every video and makes notes along the way. In most cases, the training observed is spot-on and requires no follow-up. When follow-up or additional training "is" needed, however, Sifu Phil goes in-depth with the quickest and most efficient ways to bring it up to speed.
  6. If a member has met the criteria, he/she is awarded the appropriate level. They are sent their ranking certificate, the appropriate rank patch, and access to the next PDF study guide for the next level.

In this way, a DLP member progresses at their own pace and is assured that when they are ready, they are free to test at any time.
